11 Day Kenya Tanzania Safari Adventure

This exciting 11 day safari takes you through some of East Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations across Kenya and Tanzania. Starting in Nairobi, the journey leads to the scenic shores of Lake Naivasha before continuing to the famous wildlife plains of Maasai Mara National Reserve. The adventure then crosses into Tanzania to explore the vast wilderness of Serengeti National Park and the wildlife rich Ngorongoro Crater. After a stop in Arusha, the safari concludes with incredible elephant sightings and views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli National Park before returning to Nairobi.

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Naivasha

Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be welcomed by your guide and begin the scenic drive to Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers, hosting hundreds of bird species and a variety of wildlife along its shores. After checking in at your lodge and enjoying lunch, you may opt for a boat ride on the lake (optional activity). In the evening, relax at the lodge before dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart for the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Along the way, stop to admire breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Arrive in the Maasai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Maisha Camp. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive en route to the camp where you may spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife roaming the savannah plains.

Day 3: Full Day Safari in Maasai Mara 

Spend the day exploring the vast plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. The reserve is famous for its abundant wildlife and the spectacular annual Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeests and zebras cross from the Serengeti into the Mara. During your safari you may encounter Maasai giraffes, lions, buffaloes, antelopes, gazelles, and a wide variety of bird species. Optional activities include a sunrise hot-air balloon safari or a visit to a traditional Maasai village.

Day 4: Maasai Mara to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart the Maasai Mara and enjoy a final game drive as you head toward the Kenya–Tanzania border at Isebania Border. After completing immigration formalities, continue to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The Serengeti ecosystem is one of Africa’s most famous wildlife regions. Upon arrival, check in at your camp and enjoy dinner before settling in for the night.

Day 5: Full Day Safari in Serengeti

Today is dedicated to exploring the vast landscapes of Serengeti National Park. Covering over 14,700 square kilometres, the park is home to incredible wildlife populations and diverse ecosystems. The Serengeti is renowned for the Great Migration, when over a million wildebeests and hundreds of thousands of zebras move across the plains in search of fresh grazing. During your game drives, you may also encounter lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, and numerous bird species.

Day 6: Discover More of Serengeti

After breakfast, depart with a packed lunch for another full day of exploring the Serengeti. Enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of an acacia tree while surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness. The park’s open plains are home to a wide range of wildlife including leopards, cheetahs, elephants, wild dogs, gazelles, and crocodiles. The Serengeti also hosts a rich variety of birdlife, making it a fantastic destination for bird enthusiasts.

Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, depart the Serengeti and travel toward the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive in the surrounding area. The crater region is famous for its stunning scenery and abundant wildlife.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

After breakfast, descend into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. This massive volcanic caldera hosts around 30,000 animals and is one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor while observing animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, and flamingos. Later in the afternoon, continue to Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Arusha to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and travel toward Amboseli National Park via the Namanga Border. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Upon arrival, check in at Kibo Safari Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Explore Amboseli National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. The park’s swampy areas attract many animals including elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and various bird species. On clear mornings, the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro provides a spectacular backdrop for wildlife photography. Return to the camp for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 11: Amboseli to Nairobi

After breakfast, depart from Amboseli and travel back to Nairobi, marking the end of your incredible Kenya–Tanzania safari adventure.
