2-Day Safari: Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Crater from Moshi

Day 1: Moshi – Lake Manyara National Park

Depart from Moshi in the morning for a scenic 4-hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park, enjoying views of the Maasai plains and villages along the way. Upon arrival, enjoy a picnic lunch before embarking on a late afternoon game drive, the optimal time to spot wildlife. Lake Manyara is renowned for its diverse landscapes—ranging from lush groundwater forests to acacia woodlands and alkaline lakes. Wildlife commonly seen includes elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, impalas, hippos, and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions. The forest is alive with monkeys and birds, while the backdrop of the Great Rift Valley escarpment adds dramatic scenery. After your game drive, continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight at either Twiga Campsite or Highview Hotel (Full Board).

 Day 2: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater – Moshi / Airport

 Transfer After breakfast, drive approximately 30 minutes to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. This area hosts an unmatched concentration of wildlife, offering some of the best game viewing in East Africa. Expect to see black rhinos, prides of lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, flamingos, and an array of water birds and antelopes. Predators like cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas also roam the crater floor, providing a thrilling safari experience. After a full day of wildlife viewing and a picnic lunch, begin your return journey to Moshi, arriving in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel (B&B) or transferred directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) for your onward flight.
