About this tour

Day 1: Arrival and Visit to Botanical Gardens

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens for a peaceful nature walk, birdwatching, and an introduction to Uganda’s flora and fauna. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Visit to Ngamba Island

Take a boat trip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Lake Victoria. Observe rescued chimpanzees and learn about conservation efforts. Enjoy feeding time as experts provide insightful commentary. Return to Entebbe for an evening at leisure.

Day 3: Visit to Mabamba Swamp

Day 4: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

 Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Evening Boat Cruise

Depart for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest conservation area. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and bird species.

Day 7: Visit to the Top of the Falls and Budongo Forest

Begin your day with a visit to the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River forcefully squeezes through a 7 meter wide gorge, creating a breathtaking waterfall. Witness the thunderous power of the falls and feel the refreshing mist as you take in the panoramic views. After this experience, proceed to Budongo Forest, a rich tropical rainforest within the park. Here, embark on a guided primate trek, where you may encounter chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and blue monkeys. Budongo is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to over 360 bird species.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale National Park 

After breakfast, depart for Kibale National Park, a scenic journey through Uganda’s lush countryside, rolling hills, and tea plantations. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains and vibrant rural communities. Arrive in Fort Portal, a charming town known for its cool climate and cultural heritage, where you will have a brief stop for lunch. Continue to Kibale National Park, home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Check in at your lodge, enjoy a relaxing evening, and prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking adventure.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading to Kibale National Park, home to the highest concentration of primates in Africa. After a briefing at the park headquarters, embark on an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience, where you will hike through the lush tropical forest in search of a habituated chimpanzee group. Once you find them, spend an unforgettable hour observing their behaviour, interactions, and playful nature. Along the way, you may also spot other primates like red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and olive baboons. In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a rich ecosystem known for its diverse birdlife, including the Great Blue Turaco. Walk along well-maintained trails and boardwalks, encountering monkeys, butterflies, and unique plant species.  Day 10: Transfer to Semliki National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for Semliki National Park, a unique lowland tropical rainforest known for its rich biodiversity and breathtaking scenery. Upon arrival, embark on a guided nature walk to visit the Sempaya Hot Springs, the park’s most famous attraction. These geothermal springs, locally known as the "male and female" hot springs, are not only a fascinating natural wonder but also hold cultural significance for the local communities. Watch as boiling water bubbles up from the ground, with temperatures high enough to cook an egg in just a few minutes. During your exploration of Semliki's dense forest, you may encounter primates such as red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, and black and white colobus monkeys. The park is also home to over 400 bird species, making it a paradise for bird lovers. Look out for rare species such as the shoebill stork, yellow throated cuckoo, and red billed dwarf hornbill. After your visit to Semliki, enjoy a scenic drive through the Albertine Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse wildlife reserves. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of rolling hills, crater lakes, and tea plantations. Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, check in at your lodge and relax for the evening, preparing for the exciting safari activities ahead.

Day 11: Early Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Enjoy a game drive in the Kasenyi sector, known for its lion and leopard sightings. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, home to hippos, crocodiles, and birds.

Day 12: Visit to Ishasha Sector and Relaxation

Travel to the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree climbing lions. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge. 

Day 13: Game Drive, Savannah, Underground Forest, and Crater Lakes

Start your morning game drive with the soft glow of the rising sun casting a golden hue over the savannah. As you journey through the park, you'll encounter herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, and a variety of other wildlife, each more breathtaking as they emerge from the morning mist. After a thrilling game drive, head towards the underground forest a rare, enchanting natural wonder.

Here, the dense, lush canopy creates a cool, peaceful atmosphere, with towering trees and a vibrant mix of plants. Explore the forest floor, where unique wildlife thrives in this secluded ecosystem. Later, continue your exploration to the scenic crater lakes, their serene waters reflecting the surrounding hills and creating an idyllic landscape. Day 14: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Embark on a scenic transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a journey that takes you through the rolling hills, lush countryside, and vibrant local villages of Uganda. As you travel, enjoy breathtaking views of terraced farmlands, mist covered mountains, and winding roads that lead deeper into the heart of the country. Along the way, you may stop at local markets or roadside stalls for a taste of fresh tropical fruits and to interact with friendly locals. Upon approaching Bwindi, the landscape transforms into a dense rainforest, home to diverse wildlife and the world-famous mountain gorillas. The cool, fresh air and towering trees create a mystical atmosphere, setting the stage for your upcoming gorilla trekking adventure. Day 15: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Experience

Today marks one of the most unforgettable experiences of your expedition gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers, who will guide you into the dense forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, spend an awe inspiring hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat, watching them interact, play, and feed. After lunch, visit the Batwa community, the forest’s indigenous people. Learn about their ancient survival skills, traditional hunting techniques, and medicinal plant use. Enjoy traditional songs and storytelling, gaining insight into their unique cultural heritage. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation after an incredible day.

Day 16: Community Walk and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Begin your morning with a guided community walk near Bwindi, where you will interact with the locals, including the Batwa people, learning about their traditional way of life, medicinal plants, and cultural heritage. This immersive experience provides insight into the indigenous communities living around the forest. After the walk, embark on a scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi, a breathtaking destination often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa" due to its rolling hills and misty landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the lakeside, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere, or taking a short canoe ride before dinner. Day 17: Full Day Birding Experience at Lake Bunyonyi 

Lake Bunyonyi, meaning “Place of Many Little Birds,” is a paradise for birdwatching enthusiasts, boasting over 200 bird species. Spend the entire day exploring its lush surroundings, spotting species such as the African harrier hawk, pied kingfisher, grey crowned crane, herons, and weaver birds. Glide across the lake in a traditional dugout canoe, visiting some of the 29 islands while searching for birds nesting in the papyrus swamps. You will also have the opportunity to visit local communities, learning about the Bakiga and Batwa people’s culture and way of life. The day ends with a relaxing sunset view over the lake.  Day 18: Canoeing and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Start your morning with a peaceful canoeing experience on Lake Bunyonyi, navigating between its 29 scenic islands while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. This experience offers a chance to spot otters, kingfishers, herons, and weaver birds while learning about the local communities living around the lake. After the canoe ride, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying a scenic drive through southwestern Uganda’s rolling hills and farmlands. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at your lodge. Later, head out for an evening game drive, where you may encounter zebras, impalas, giraffes, and topis before returning for dinner and relaxation.

Day 19: Walking Safari and Boat Cruise

Start your day with a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park, one of the few parks in Uganda where you can explore wildlife on foot. Accompanied by a ranger, walk through the savannah and acacia woodlands, getting up close with zebras, impalas, giraffes, elands, buffaloes, and warthogs. The experience offers a unique opportunity to observe wildlife behaviour without the barrier of a vehicle. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds such as the African fish eagle, pied kingfisher, and African finfoot.

Day 20: Full Day Birding in Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park is a haven for bird enthusiasts, with over 350 bird species recorded. Spend the entire day exploring the park’s diverse habitats, including wetlands, savannah, and acacia woodlands, in search of rare and endemic bird species. Look out for the African finfoot, shoebill stork, papyrus gonolek, red faced barbet, and white winged warbler. Venture on guided birding walks and game drives, where you may also encounter zebras, elands, impalas, and warthogs. The tranquil shores of Lake Mburo provide excellent sightings of water birds and hippos. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 21: Transfer Back to Entebbe

After breakfast, embark on your journey back to Entebbe, marking the end of your 21 day Uganda expedition. Along the way, stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe for a photo opportunity and souvenir shopping. Here, you can witness the famous water experiment demonstrating the Coriolis effect, showing how water drains in different directions on either side of the Equator. Continue your drive to Entebbe, where you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a brief city tour or relaxation by the lake before heading to the airport.
