This 4 day Rwanda Uganda primate safari offers an incredible opportunity to explore two of East Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations. The journey begins in Kigali, where you will visit the historic Kigali Genocide Memorial and learn about Rwanda’s past and resilience. You will then travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage rainforest and home to nearly half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. The safari includes a once in a lifetime gorilla trekking experience, scenic drives through beautiful landscapes, and golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park, creating a perfect blend of wildlife adventure and cultural discovery.
About this tour
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our company representative for a short briefing about your safari and introduction to your driver guide. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali for check in and relaxation after your journey.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, you will check out and begin a guided city tour in Kigali. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will learn about the tragic events of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi, during which over one million people lost their lives in 100 days. After lunch, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, terraced farms, and beautiful countryside landscapes. Bwindi is a dense tropical rainforest and one of the best places in the world to see endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer Back to Rwanda
Early in the morning, enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing by rangers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. You will then begin your gorilla trekking adventure, walking through the dense rainforest in search of the shy mountain gorillas. The trek may take half a day or a full day, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend up to one hour observing them in their natural habitat while watching their behavior, feeding, and social interactions. After the trekking experience, return to the starting point for lunch and later transfer back to Rwanda near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to the Airport
After breakfast, your safari driver-guide will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey trekking. Golden monkeys are lively primates found in the bamboo forests of the park. The trekking experience is usually less strenuous than gorilla trekking, making it an enjoyable wildlife encounter. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you will drive back to Kigali and be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or drop off at your accommodation.
