6 Days Lake Manyara/ Ngorongoro Crater/ Serengeti Tarangire Safari

Destination: Tanzania Safaris
Country: Tanzania
Description:

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

Your journey begins with a scenic four-hour drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the park’s lush scenery. In the late afternoon, you’ll head out on a game drive, which is the ideal time for wildlife viewing. As you approach the park from the east, the towering Rift Valley escarpment forms a dramatic backdrop to the shimmering lake. In the groundwater forest, monkeys leap through the trees, while elephants seek shade on the slopes. Wildlife in the area includes zebras, impalas, giraffes, hippos, buffalos, and a variety of birdlife. You’ll spend the night at either Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge or the Twiga Lodge and Campsite, relaxing and preparing for the days ahead.

Day 2: Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you’ll depart Lake Manyara and travel toward the Ngorongoro Crater. The journey includes a scenic drive with a game viewing opportunity along the crater rim. You’ll then descend over 2,000 feet (around 670 meters) into the crater itself for a full afternoon of exploration. The crater floor is teeming with wildlife, including the famous black-maned lions, endangered black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, and many species of grazing antelope. With a picnic lunch enjoyed within the park, you’ll have ample time to absorb the crater’s unique ecosystem before ascending in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight accommodation await at either the SIMBA Campsite or Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park Following breakfast, you’ll continue westward toward the Serengeti. Arriving in time for lunch, you'll then set out for an afternoon game drive through this iconic landscape. The Serengeti, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to one of the world’s most incredible wildlife spectacles. As you traverse the vast plains, keep your eyes open for large herds of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, and the predators that follow them—lions, cheetahs, and hyenas among them. The day ends with an overnight stay at either the Serengeti Seronera Wildlife Camp or the luxurious Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Today you’ll enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives, with a relaxing lunch and leisure break at your lodge or campsite in between. The Serengeti, whose name comes from the Maasai word for "endless plains," offers unrivaled opportunities to witness wildlife in its most natural form. The central plains are particularly known for predators, including leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. This region also hosts the famed Great Migration, during which over a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras cross these plains in search of greener pastures. Birdwatchers will delight in spotting flamingos, vultures, eagles, ducks, and geese. Your evening will be spent again at the Serengeti Seronera Wildlife Camp or the Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge.

Day 5: Serengeti to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you’ll leave the Serengeti behind and travel to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s third-largest national park and a haven for a remarkably large elephant population. On your way, you’ll pass through varied landscapes before arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon will be dedicated to game viewing. The park is known for its ancient baobab trees, which tower over the savannah and the animals below. The Tarangire River is the only permanent water source in the park, drawing wildlife such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and thousands of elephants to its banks. As the sun sets, you’ll settle in for dinner and an overnight stay at either Tarangire Safari Lodge or Nimali Tarangire Camp.

Day 6: Tarangire to Arusha On your final day, enjoy an early morning game drive through Tarangire’s captivating landscapes, offering one last chance to see the incredible wildlife. After breakfast, you’ll begin the drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro, arriving in the afternoon. From here, you can catch your onward flight or transfer to a hotel in Arusha or Moshi to continue your journey in Tanzania.
