7 Day Uganda Rwanda Safari

This seven day safari takes you through some of East Africa’s most spectacular wildlife destinations in both Uganda and Rwanda. The journey begins in Entebbe and continues to the wildlife rich Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and a boat safari along the famous Kazinga Channel. You will then travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a Batwa cultural experience and an unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Crossing into Rwanda, the safari continues to Nyungwe National Park, home to chimpanzees and the famous canopy walk. The trip concludes in Kigali after an enriching journey filled with wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and breathtaking landscapes.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your safari guide who will brief you before beginning the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive offers scenic views of Uganda’s countryside, including rolling hills, rural villages, and lush farmland. Along the way, you may spot wildlife and enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel westward. Upon arrival, check in at Kikorongo Safari Lodge and relax while enjoying the views of the surrounding savannah.  Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Kikorongo Safari Lodge 

Day 2: Wildlife Safari and Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of the park’s best areas for wildlife viewing. As the sun rises over the savannah, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and various antelope species. After returning to the lodge for lunch, the afternoon will be spent on a boat safari along the famous Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise provides excellent opportunities to see large pods of hippos, crocodiles, elephants along the shoreline, and a variety of bird species. In the evening, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi and Batwa Cultural Experience

After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its mountain gorillas. The journey offers spectacular views of rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and traditional villages. Upon arrival, take part in the Batwa cultural experience where the indigenous Batwa community shares insights into their traditional forest lifestyle, hunting techniques, music, dance, and storytelling. This cultural interaction provides a deeper understanding of the forest’s original inhabitants. Dinner and overnight will be at Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, you will hike through the dense forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Once located, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing the gorillas as they feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the extraordinary experience.

Day 5: Scenic Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, depart Bwindi and cross the border into Rwanda, traveling towards Nyungwe National Park. The journey offers stunning views of Rwanda’s rolling green hills, tea plantations, and vibrant rural communities. Known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” Rwanda’s scenery provides a memorable travel experience. Upon arrival in Nyungwe, check in at Ken Barham Lodge and spend the evening relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Adventure

Rise early for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe National Park. Guided by experienced trackers, you will explore the dense rainforest in search of chimpanzees and observe them in their natural habitat as they play, feed, and move through the forest canopy. In the afternoon, take part in the famous canopy walk, a suspended bridge that offers spectacular aerial views of the ancient rainforest and its rich biodiversity. After this thrilling adventure, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali International Airport

After breakfast, depart for Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a short city tour including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and local craft markets. Later, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable Uganda–Rwanda safari.
