This 8 day Rwanda primate, culture, and nature safari offers an immersive journey through Rwanda’s most iconic destinations. The adventure begins in Kigali, where you will learn about the country’s history at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. You will then travel to Volcanoes National Park for unforgettable encounters with mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The safari continues to the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu, followed by exploration of the ancient rainforest of Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you will enjoy a canopy walk, chimpanzee trekking, waterfall hikes, and tea plantation experiences. The journey concludes with cultural visits including the King's Palace Museum and a community visit at the Nyamirambo Women's Center, offering a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s heritage and daily life.
About this tour
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our company staff for a safari briefing and introduction to your driver guide. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali for check in, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Musanze
After breakfast, begin a guided city tour of Kigali including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will learn about the tragic events of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. After lunch, drive to Musanze, near Volcanoes National Park, the famous home of the endangered mountain gorillas. Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park for a briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced park rangers, you will hike through the forest in search of the gorillas. The trek may take 2–6 hours depending on their location. Once found, you will spend one hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat. After lunch at the lodge, enjoy a cultural encounter with the local community to learn about traditional Rwandan culture.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, return to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey trekking in the bamboo forests. After the trek, return for lunch and later transfer to the scenic Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. Enjoy a relaxing evening by the lakeshore.

Day 5: Coffee Experience and Canopy Walk
After breakfast, travel to the Kimbiri coffee plantation to learn about Rwanda’s coffee growing and processing traditions. Later proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you will enjoy the famous canopy walk, a suspended bridge offering spectacular views over the rainforest canopy.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking and Tea Plantation Tour
After an early breakfast, head into Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking. Nyungwe is home to 13 species of primates, making it one of the best primate tracking destinations in Africa. After lunch, visit a nearby tea plantation to learn about tea cultivation and processing before enjoying a tasting of freshly prepared tea.

Day 7: Waterfall Hike, King’s Palace Museum and Transfer to Kigali
After a relaxed breakfast, enjoy a waterfall hike within Nyungwe Forest National Park, a 2–3 hour walk through the forest where you may spot primates and a variety of bird species. Later depart for Kigali, with lunch en route and a stop at the historic King's Palace Museum, a traditional royal residence that showcases Rwanda’s pre colonial monarchy and cultural heritage. Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon.

Day 8: Departure
After a relaxed breakfast, transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. Depending on your flight time, you may enjoy a short visit to the Nyamirambo Women's Center for a guided walk through one of Kigali’s vibrant neighborhoods to experience local Rwandan life.
