Country: Tanzania
Description:

Day 1: Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park, a journey of about four hours. Upon arrival, you enjoy a picnic lunch before heading out on a late afternoon game drive—an ideal time for wildlife viewing. The park offers a dramatic landscape with the towering Rift Valley escarpment as a backdrop. In the groundwater forest, monkeys leap through the tall trees, while elephants find shade near the escarpment. Other animals commonly seen include giraffes, zebras, impalas, hippos, and buffalo. The night is spent at either the Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge or Twiga Lodge and Campsite.

Day 2: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park via Oldupai Gorge

You travel from Lake Manyara to the Serengeti, passing through the renowned Oldupai Gorge. This archaeological site in the eastern Serengeti plains is famous for the discovery of early human fossils. Its striking landscape, shaped by the same tectonic forces that formed the Great Rift Valley, adds to its significance. After visiting the site, you continue to Serengeti National Park, arriving in time for an evening rest at either the Serengeti Seronera Wildlife Camp or the Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge.

Day 3 & 4: Exploring Serengeti National Park

You spend two full days immersed in the vast and wild expanse of the Serengeti. With picnic lunches packed, you set out each day in search of the park’s extraordinary wildlife, including the Big Five and the spectacular herds of wildebeest, especially if your visit coincides with the migration season. The Serengeti’s endless plains and varied ecosystems offer new experiences around every corner. After long but rewarding days of game viewing, you return to your chosen accommodation for a relaxing evening under the stars.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater After breakfast, you leave the Serengeti and head toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an afternoon game drive. The crater is famed for its incredible density of wildlife, including black rhinos, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and a colorful variety of birdlife such as flamingos and other waterbirds. The day ends with an overnight stay at either SIMBA Campsite or Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge.

Day 6 & 7: Wildlife Viewing in Ngorongoro Crater

On the sixth day, you begin early with a packed picnic lunch and explore the crater rim before heading back into the heart of the caldera for game viewing. The rich ecosystem within the crater supports an exceptional variety of animals, and the scenery is unmatched. Day seven offers another chance to discover the crater’s wildlife and enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at one of its scenic spots. Evenings are spent at your lodge or campsite, reflecting on the day’s encounters. Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport Your final day begins with an early breakfast and another descent into the crater for a concluding game drive. After a last picnic lunch amid nature, you begin your return journey. In the late afternoon, you are driven to Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport for your departure, or alternatively to a hotel if you have more time to spend in Tanzania.
