Your safari begins in Nairobi, where you will board the comfortable Madaraka Express train for a scenic journey to Voi. The train ride offers beautiful views of Kenya’s countryside as you travel toward the Tsavo region. Upon arrival at Voi Railway Station, you will be met by a driver and transferred via a shared shuttle to the tranquil Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, home to diverse wildlife and scenic landscapes. After arriving at Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa, you will check in and enjoy a welcome drink before settling in for lunch as part of your full-board stay. In the afternoon, you will head out on your first guided game drive through the sanctuary, where you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and various antelope species roaming freely in their natural habitat. As the sun sets over the hills, you will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious dinner and relax for the evening.

On the second day, the adventure continues with an early morning wake-up and light refreshments before departing for another exciting game drive within Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Morning is one of the best times to spot wildlife as animals are more active in the cooler hours of the day. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Later in the morning, you will enjoy a fascinating heritage tour that explores the region’s rich history. This includes a visit to the Taita Hills World War I Museum and the Taita Hills Wildlife Education Centre, where you will learn about the area’s wildlife conservation efforts and its connection to the East African Campaign of World War I. After the tour, you will return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the sanctuary. Guests may also choose to indulge in a rejuvenating treatment at Afya Bora Spa, where you will receive a 20% discount on massage treatments as part of the package. In the evening, you can unwind while watching wildlife around the lodge before enjoying dinner and another overnight stay.

On the final day, you will start your morning with breakfast at the lodge while taking in the views of the surrounding wilderness. After check out, a shared transfer will take you back to Voi Railway Station in time to board the Madaraka Express train for your return journey to Nairobi. You will arrive in the afternoon, marking the end of a memorable safari experience filled with wildlife encounters, historical discoveries, and relaxation in the scenic landscapes of the Taita Hills.

For guests traveling during the green season between April and June 2026 (excluding Easter holidays), there is also the option to extend the experience with an additional night at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge at a special rate of KES 6,925 per person on a full board basis, allowing you even more time to enjoy the wildlife and serenity of the sanctuary.
