Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Depart Nairobi early for a scenic drive down into the breathtaking Great Rift Valley, stopping briefly to admire the panoramic views. Continue onward to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving before lunch. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive to encounter the spectacular wildlife that defines this renowned park. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Masai Mara

Spend a full day exploring Kenya’s premier wildlife destination. Morning and afternoon game drives will immerse you in the vast landscapes of the Masai Mara, where you can expect sightings of Africa’s Big Five alongside a wide variety of other animals. The reserve’s 1,510 km² of open savannah and lush riverine woodland along the Mara and Talek rivers create an idyllic setting for wildlife viewing. Expect to see Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, wildebeests, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos. Lions are commonly spotted lounging or stalking prey, while cheetahs and leopards appear less frequently but are still present. If visiting during July and August, witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration, when millions of wildebeest traverse the plains in search of fresh grazing. Optional activities include a breathtaking hot-air balloon safari over the Mara or a cultural visit to a Maasai village. Return to camp or lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park

After an early breakfast, begin your journey to Lake Nakuru. Along the way, you can opt to visit a Maasai village (additional $20 per person) to experience traditional dances and learn about their culture before continuing. Arrive at Lake Nakuru in the late afternoon and check into your lodge or resort for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi

Start your day with an early breakfast, then check out and head straight into Lake Nakuru National Park. This compact park is famed for its rare white rhino population, part of the Big Five, and its stunning pink flamingo flocks that gather along the lake’s shores. After a rewarding game drive, depart for Nairobi, arriving in the mid to late afternoon.
