Day 1: Journey to the Wild – Arrival and Exploration at Lake Mburo National Park

Your exciting Uganda safari begins early as your guide picks you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. The drive to Lake Mburo National Park takes about four hours, offering beautiful views of the Ugandan countryside along the way. You will pause at the Equator Monument for some fun and educational photo opportunities, experiencing the unique phenomenon of the equatorial line. Upon arrival at Lake Mburo, you will check into your lodge nestled close to the park’s edge, where the sounds of nature greet you. In the evening, you may choose to embark on an optional night game drive. This is a thrilling chance to spot nocturnal wildlife like leopards, owls, and genets that come alive after sunset. Lake Mburo is the smallest savannah park in Uganda, yet it is rich in biodiversity with over 310 bird species and 68 mammal species. Day 2: Walking Safari and Scenic Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up to the fresh morning air and enjoy a guided walking safari through the scenic landscapes of Lake Mburo. Walking among zebras, giraffes, and impalas provides a rare and intimate way to connect with the African bush. The tranquility of the surroundings and the sounds of wildlife create an unforgettable experience as you observe animals in their natural habitat at close range. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, you will set off on a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Day 3: Wildlife Encounters – Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Begin your day early with a game drive that takes you through the varied terrain of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The cooler morning hours are perfect for spotting animals as they emerge from their resting places. You will search for the Big Four mammals—elephants, buffaloes, lions, and leopards—along with other species such as Uganda kobs, waterbucks, and hippos. The park is also famous for its elusive tree-climbing lions found in the Ishasha sector, although that will be covered on another day. After your morning adventure, return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and some rest. In the afternoon, embark on a relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This waterway is a natural gathering place for large herds of elephants and buffaloes who come to drink, as well as Nile crocodiles and hippos that lounge along the banks. Bird lovers will delight in spotting numerous species including the striking African fish eagle, Egyptian goose, and several kingfishers. As the sun sets over the channel, the beauty of this natural spectacle will leave you in awe before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4: From Tree-Climbing Lions to Ancient Forests – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast and a final morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth, you will depart southwest toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, known for its dense ancient forest and mountain gorillas. En route, you will pass through the Ishasha sector, famed for its rare tree-climbing lions. With luck, you may spot these majestic cats resting on the branches of fig trees, a truly unique sight in Africa. Continuing the journey, you will ascend into the lush highlands surrounding Bwindi. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population. Bwindi’s rich biodiversity also includes over 120 mammal species and more than 320 bird species, including many Albertine Rift endemics. Upon arrival, settle into your lodge at the forest edge, where the sounds of the jungle create a calming ambiance in preparation for your gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Adventure and Relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi

Today marks the highlight of your safari — gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early morning briefing at the park headquarters, you will be assigned to a gorilla family and accompanied by experienced trackers and armed rangers. Trekking through the dense forest, you will be rewarded with a rare and unforgettable opportunity to observe a family of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat for one hour. These gentle giants display fascinating social behaviors and provide a moving encounter that few will ever forget. After your trek, you will receive a certificate to commemorate your achievement. Later, you will transfer to the stunning Lake Bunyonyi, a peaceful and scenic lake surrounded by hills and dotted with 19 islands. Day 6: Exploring Lake Bunyonyi and Departure

Spend your final morning enjoying the serene beauty of Lake Bunyonyi. You can take a boat cruise or a canoe ride to explore the islands, including the historic Punishment Island, where local stories reveal a dark past of social traditions. The lake is also home to many bird species, such as the elegant grey crowned crane, adding to the rich experience of your visit. After your exploration, you will begin the journey back to Entebbe or Kampala for your departure.
